The fountains symbolize life and are present in each village of Provence. In le Lavandou, there are 14 fountains that offer water as a sign of welcoming. Their crystalline whisper is a real delight for walkers. Without their sound, the small squares of the old village of fishermen wouldn’t be quite the same. THE FOUNTAIN OF SAINT-LOUIS
Breath coming from a wall adorned by old panes in the simplicity of stone and the strength of faith.
THE FOUNTAIN HIPPOLYTE-ADAM
This fountain was built to the tribute of this famous banker, born in Boulogne-sur-Mer, precursor of the great tourist appeal of le Lavandou and friend of Gustave Eiffel. He settled in the Cap Layet.
THE FOUNTAIN ON THE BOURDAN SQUARE IN CAVALIERE
It runs just next to the beach and the place of bowls game, in the shed of plane trees, on the square Bourdan. This latter was a journalist of London radio and drowned in the bay of Cavalière in 1953.
THE FOUNTAIN OF THE ROUND-ABOUT DE KRONBERG
Like a disk or a mirror in time of lull, it can, like the sea, rage with sprays of foam. It stands as a portent of the weather.
THE BOLLARD – FOUNTAIN OF THE BOWLS GAME.
To refresh yourself during the bowls game called “La pétanque”, and as a friendship sign from the village of Bormes-Les-Mimosas, symbolized by the lion (before the 25th of May 1913, Le Lavandou was a disctrict of Bormes-Les-Mimosas).
A mirror for the birds
It stands at the foot of the “Square des Héros”, hidden by the vegetation, an ideal thirst quenching stop before flying towards the Azur.
THE FOUNTAIN ARGAUD
Located on the small square, it was offered to the city of Le Lavandou by the family of this famous aviator.
THE « LOU LAVADOU » FOUNTAIN
With the shape of a washtub, it reminds us of the etymology of the name le Lavandou, at the time when the « bugadières » wash the “pescadous” linen in a tub full of fresh water. They did so next to the small fishing boats that were up on the shore.
THE FOUNTAIN OF THE BEAUTIFUL SPRING
The legend says that it brings the water from the alps without never stopping to run, in an ochre dripping, always fresh.
THE FOUNTAIN OF SAINT-CLAIR
Next to the chapel and to the place of the “Romérage”, it reminds us of the legend of Saint-Clair, patron of the dressmakers, who bathed the eyes of blind persons to heal them from blindness.
THE BASIN OF THE MADO SQUARE
Veiled reference to the old washtub that stood in the station area that we call « the basin ». It is an invitation to make a stop on this small cool square.
THE FOUNTAIN « LES TROIS DAUPHINS »
Generous and welcoming, this fountain symbolizes the blazon of Le Lavandou with its dolphins and its lion surrounded by oaks and olive trees.
THE TWINS FOUNTAIN
Like a message of hope from le Lavandou to Europe and its en twin town “Kronberg”.
